Octopus Agile negative prices explained
Sometimes Octopus Agile unit rates go below 0p/kWh. Here’s what negative prices mean and how to spot them on the live board.
Negative Agile unit rates happen when wholesale prices are very low (often high renewable generation and low demand). In those half-hours, the unit rate can credit you for using electricity — while the daily standing charge still accrues.
Watch for dips on the live price chart, or set a low threshold on email alerts. Always confirm how negative rates are treated in your Octopus agreement.
